Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un
To Allah we belong, and to Him is our return
Death is a very important stage between finite, transient and infinite, eternal life. This is the end of this worldly life and the beginning of the real, eternal afterlife. It does not mean the complete end, in fact, in a sense, it means a beginning.
According to one story, Life asked Death:
– “Why does everyone loves me so much, while they hate you?”
– “Life, it is because you are a beautiful lie! And I am the painful truth!”
This can encourage us not to neglect our duties, and not to get tired of doing good deeds, at the same time, this thinking protects us from the limiting, morbid fear of death, and only the positive effects of ‘fear’ will prevail, which encourages us to let’s live a better, moral life. It protects us from greed and tyranny because we keep in mind that the time will come when all worldly joys, pleasures, and glory will pass away, lose their value, and a person will take nothing with him to the grave other than the value of his good deeds.
